Heat exchangers

Download datasheet

Coates Offshore heat exchangers, which are used to heat a number of fluids found in oil and gas production, consist of a pressurised shell containing a set of process coils. Steam is piped from an external steam generator into the shell to heat the process fluid flowing through the process coils.

Prior to the process fluids being separated the fluids are heated within the heat exchanger to allow greater viscosity before being separated within the test separator and enabling productivity data to be processed. This allows the measurement of product separately whether it is barrels of oil per day (Bbls/day), barrels of water per day, or standard cubic feet of gas per day (scf/day)

Coates Offshore range of portable skid mounted 10K heat exchangers for rental are often used in conjunction with surface well testing applications and pipeline cleaning worldwide to complete the package of heat transfer during well test and chemical cleaning operations. All our units are DNV 2.7-1 approved.

Features
  • Reduces viscosity of oil to improve burner efficiency
  • Fully automatic temperature control
  • Improves seperation of oil/water emulsions and foaming oils by reducing surface tension through heat transfer
  • Reduces formation of hydrates
